Friday 20 November 2009 The OXSC Presentation Night was an appropriate way to bid farewell to Peter De Luca as President and welcome Hugh Tobin into the role as the OXSC celebrated a successful 2009 season in which its Seniors and Reserves teams both comfortably won their respective league titles. Liam Flynn was the undisputed star of the night and emulated past club champion Anthony De Luca by winning the Seniors best and fairest award, the leading goalscorer title and the Paul Trimboli Medal. It was fitting recognition for a fabulous season from the Englishman. Tarkan Erturk and Tim Mullaly were recognised as leading clubmen whilst the goalscoring awards went to Liam Flynn, Chris Ketsakidis and Kieran Hickie. Seniors B&F: Liam Flynn (R/U Nick Butler) Reserves B&F: Peter Gregory (R/U Juan De La Pava) Thirds B&F: Brendan Pegiel (R/U Tim Mullaly) |

October 3 OXSC 1 - Mercedes College 2 On Saturday 3 October, a small band of OXSC representatives made the journey to Adelaide for the annual Chris McCabe Cup. Mercedes College emerged victorious in the closest game yet contested in the 4 years since the competition was established. Thanks to Michael O'Fathartaigh from Mercedes for another superb hosting job and Michael Moorhead for being the OXSC organisational force behind this now traditional encounter. We look forward to the tradition continuing next year in Melbourne. Of course, for those wondering about the background of this event, a quick history lesson. Chris McCabe served as principal to both schools and has agreed to lend his name to this trophy contested between the two veteran teams of each club. |
